THE QUICK READ
Trident Seafoods runs a 125,000-square-foot surimi seafood processing plant in Motley, Minnesota, the largest surimi production facility in North America with an annual capacity of more than 100 million pounds. The plant produces refrigerated and frozen surimi seafood products along with fully cooked Redi Grilled Alaska salmon and Alaska pollock. Trident acquired the facility in 2006 after it had changed hands from Multifoods to Tyson to Conagra under the original SeaFest name. Its ammonia refrigeration system holds roughly 20,000 pounds, above the 10,000-pound federal threshold that triggers a process safety management program. Motley is a small city in Morrison County in central Minnesota, located along the Mississippi River about 130 miles northwest of Minneapolis.

ABOUT TRIDENT SEAFOODS
Trident Seafoods was founded in 1973 by Chuck Bundrant and two fishing partners, starting with a single vessel that combined crab harvesting and processing at sea. The company grew to process Alaska pollock, salmon, crab, and other whitefish, opening a value-added plant in Anacortes, Washington in 1988 to supply pollock to national restaurant chains. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Trident now operates processing plants in Alaska, Georgia, Minnesota, and Washington. The company remains privately held, majority owned by the Bundrant family, with Chuck's son Joe Bundrant serving as chief executive officer.
