THE QUICK READ
The Mountaire Farms plant in Selbyville, Delaware, runs both poultry slaughter and processing under one roof — birds arrive live, move through evisceration and chilling, then get cut into retail and food-service portions. It is a large facility where refrigeration systems serve kill floors, chill rooms, and cold storage to keep high-volume production moving. Handling the full chain from live bird to boxed product means more refrigeration equipment to maintain than a processing-only plant.
