THE QUICK READ
The Americold facility in Jefferson, Wisconsin, carries a 45,500-pound ammonia charge, a large refrigeration system for a warehouse with about 39 employees. Jefferson sits in southeast Wisconsin's dairy country between Madison and Milwaukee. The heavy ammonia load and lean workforce point to a high-capacity frozen storage operation, consistent with the region's output of cheese, butter, and other dairy products that require deep-frozen warehousing.
