ABOUT WAYNE-SANDERSON FARMS-DECATUR PREPARED FOODS-WEST
Wayne Farms traces its roots to a feed-milling business started in 1895, with the Wayne brand name adopted in 1916. Continental Grain took a majority stake in 1965, spinning the poultry division out as Wayne Farms LLC, based in Oakwood, Georgia. The company grew through added hatcheries, feed mills, and processing plants across Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and North Carolina, selling under the Wayne Farms and Platinum Harvest brands. By 2004 it reported about $1.5 billion in annual revenue and roughly 9,800 employees. In July 2022, Wayne Farms merged with Sanderson Farms, forming Wayne-Sanderson Farms under a joint venture between Cargill and Continental Grain.
