ABOUT MICHAEL FOODS
Michael Foods traces its retail egg business to a New Jersey farm dating to 1908, with the modern company formed in 1987 as a spinoff from North Star Universal. It grew through acquisitions, including Papetti's Hygrade Egg Products in 1997 and National Pasteurized Eggs, maker of Davidson's Safest Choice eggs, in 2016. The company processes value-added egg, refrigerated potato, and cheese and dairy products for foodservice, retail, and ingredient customers under brands including Crystal Farms, Simply Potatoes, All Whites, and Better'n Eggs. Post Holdings acquired Michael Foods in 2014 for about 2.45 billion dollars, and it now operates as a Post subsidiary with plants in several states.
