Foster Poultry Farms traces back to 1939, when Max and Verda Foster began a small poultry and turkey operation in California's Central Valley, using a $1,000 loan against a life insurance policy. The company moved its headquarters to Livingston, California, in 1960 and grew into one of the largest poultry producers on the West Coast, reporting about $2 billion in annual revenue and roughly 10,500 employees by 2007. Family-operated for decades, Foster Farms was acquired by investment firm Atlas Holdings in 2022.
