THE QUICK READ
Demakes Enterprises runs a USDA-inspected meat processing plant in Lynn, Massachusetts, where the family has made sausages, hot dogs, deli meats, and marinated cuts at the same Waterhill Street address since 1914. Greek immigrants Thomas and Jean Demakes started the business with Jean's handmade sausage recipe, and more than a century later the operation produces over 250 specialty protein items under the Old Neighborhood and Thin 'n Trim brands, now transitioning to the Demakes Brothers name. The plant employs around 350 people, and the company's frankfurters first appeared at Fenway Park back in 1969.
