Position Summary The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, repair, and system support for refrigeration equipment within the plant. This role evaluates equipment performance and recommends improvements to enhance efficiency, system capability, and operational output. Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia-based systems, as well as related equipment such as water heaters, boilers, air compressors, fan coil units, and air handling unitsPerform routine maintenance including filter changes, lubrication, bearing replacements, and drive belt servicingModify and troubleshoot refrigeration systems, including system controls and softwareFabricate and install sheet metal components and ductwork to support refrigeration systemsConduct HAZMAT and safety inspections to ensure compliance and safe operation of refrigeration equipmentPerform preventative maintenance and repair services on refrigeration and air conditioning systems across the facilityMaintain inventory of parts, materials, and supplies required for refrigeration system upkeepSupport continuous improvement by identifying and recommending equipment and process enhancementsPerform other duties as assigned Requirements Minimum Qualifications Six (6) months of refrigeration experience in an ammonia manufacturing environment Licenses & Certifications Boiler LicenseLevel 1 CertificationAbility to obtain Level 2 Certification Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalentStrong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsBilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills (reading, writing, speaking) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) processes and proceduresStrong understanding of refrigeration system operations and maintenance practicesAbility to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions in a production environment Work Environment & Schedule Ability to work various shifts, including overnight, weekends, and holidaysWork performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures (approximately 35°F to 95°F and occasionally above)Exposure to moving mechanical components, chemicals, fumes, and industrial noise levels Physical Requirements Regular standing and repetitive use of hands and fingersFrequent walking and reaching overheadOccasional bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting (minimum 10 lbs.)Visual requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment Benefits Why Join Us Join a team focused on maintaining critical refrigeration infrastructure that supports safe and efficient food production.
