This role is responsible for supporting and improving the site s electrical power distribution and utility infrastructure. The successful candidate will provide engineering support for: Medium- and low-voltage electrical power distribution systems Site electrical utilities and power infrastructure Incoming utility power, substations, transformers, and distribution systems Electrical system maintenance, reliability, and asset lifecycle management Electrical metering and power monitoring systems Obsolescence planning and long-range infrastructure upgrades Capital projects supporting site expansion and electrical reliability Sustainability and net-zero energy initiatives Electrical one-line diagrams, system studies, and future infrastructure planning This position is focused on electrical power distribution and utility infrastructure and is not primarily a PLC programming, automation controls, instrumentation, or process control engineering role. What You Will Achieve Oversee maintenance and reliability engineering activities for site electrical utility and power distribution systems, including the design, upkeep, modification, repair, lifecycle planning, and reliability improvement of electrical infrastructure and associated utility equipment. Provide technical engineering oversight for project execution plans and conduct engineering studies supporting equipment installation, modification, and replacement. Develop detailed and robust engineering designs to support capital investments, expansion, and long-term reliability of site electrical infrastructure, including incoming utility power, substations, transformers, medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, electrical metering systems, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) turbines, emergency diesel generators, UPS systems, and associated electrical equipment. Review electrical construction specifications, drawings, and design packages for new construction and renovation projects. Collaborate with contractors, architects, and consulting engineers to optimize cost, performance, and reliability of utility and building systems. Lead or co-lead engineering projects and manage project execution from planning through completion. Provide cross-functional leadership in project management, prioritization, forecasting, and resource allocation for maintenance and engineering activities. Coordinate with utility providers to support service reliability, capacity planning, and infrastructure upgrades. Support electrical safety programs including arc flash studies, protection coordination reviews, and compliance with NFPA 70E requirements. Evaluate electrical system capacity, load growth, and future infrastructure needs to support long-term site expansion and operational objectives. Develop scopes of work, project execution strategies, and support engineering studies. Manage personal and departmental workloads to achieve project objectives and agreed-upon timelines. Plan and coordinate short-term engineering and maintenance activities to ensure efficient execution. Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, operational performance, and maintenance effectiveness. Support implementation of preventive maintenance strategies, processes, and procedures that improve equipment performance and asset reliability. Develop and execute electrical asset lifecycle and obsolescence management strategies to ensure long-term reliability, maintainability, and future site readiness. Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations and update equipment reliability plans based on findings. Provide technical support for equipment and process improvement initiatives utilizing sound engineering principles and structured problem-solving methodologies. Utilize broad engineering knowledge and experience to develop innovative solutions and improve products, processes, and services. Support future site infrastructure planning and sustainability initiatives, including projects that contribute to energy efficiency, electrical reliability improvements, and net-zero objectives.
