Bath Frozen Foods Inc. – Mount Vernon, WA Pay: $40.00–$45.00 per hour Job Type: Full-time Typical Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 9:00 AM–4:00 PM Overtime: Available and may be required during peak/busy season Job Description Bath Frozen Foods Inc. is seeking an experienced Ammonia Refrigeration Operator / Maintenance Technician to operate, monitor, and maintain the industrial ammonia refrigeration system at our frozen food facility in Mount Vernon, Washington. This is a hands-on position focused primarily on keeping our refrigeration system operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, monitoring an industrial ammonia system, troubleshooting problems, performing routine maintenance and smaller repairs, and identifying larger issues before they result in downtime. This is a good opportunity for an experienced refrigeration operator who wants a stable, full-time position with a generally predictable weekday schedule. Responsibilities Monitor and operate the facility’s industrial ammonia refrigeration systemPerform daily inspections and record operating conditions, pressures, temperatures, oil levels, and other important system readingsKeep refrigeration equipment operating safely and efficientlyTroubleshoot refrigeration problems and determine the cause of alarms, abnormal pressures, temperatures, or operating conditionsPerform routine preventative maintenance and minor mechanical repairsInspect and maintain compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps, valves, controls, and related refrigeration equipmentIdentify developing equipment problems before they cause failures or production downtimeAssist with defrosting, system adjustments, oil management, and other normal refrigeration-system operationsRespond to refrigeration alarms and equipment problems when requiredCoordinate with outside refrigeration contractors when repairs or specialized service are beyond the scope of normal in-house maintenanceMaintain refrigeration logs and maintenance recordsMaintain a clean and organized mechanical/refrigeration roomFollow facility safety procedures and applicable ammonia refrigeration requirementsAssist with general mechanical or facility maintenance when refrigeration work is caught upBe available for additional hours during blueberry processing and other peak production periodsQualifications Preferred candidates will have: Previous experience operating or maintaining an industrial ammonia refrigeration systemStrong understanding of industrial refrigeration principlesExperience with ammonia compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps, valves, controls, and defrost systemsAbility to read refrigeration pressures, temperatures and operating conditions and recognize when something is abnormalMechanical troubleshooting and repair abilityExperience with electrical controls, VFDs, motors, sensors, and industrial equipment is an assetAbility to work independently and make sound decisions when troubleshooting equipmentStrong commitment to ammonia and industrial safetyAbility to keep accurate operating and maintenance recordsAbility to safely use hand and power toolsAbility to lift approximately 50 lbs. and work around industrial equipment, ladders, mechanical rooms, and cold environmentsReliable transportation and dependable attendanceExperience in cold storage, food processing, IQF/freezing operations, or industrial refrigeration is strongly preferred. Relevant ammonia refrigeration training or certifications such as RETA, CARO, CIRO, or equivalent industrial refrigeration experience are considered an asset. Schedule The normal schedule is approximately 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary depending on refrigeration requirements and production schedules. During our busy processing season, additional hours and overtime may be available or required. Because refrigeration is critical to our operation, occasional after-hours availability may be required for urgent refrigeration issues. Compensation $40.00–$45.00 per hour, depending on ammonia refrigeration experience, mechanical ability, certifications, and overall qualifications. Overtime is paid as applicable.
