Job Title: R D Senior Automation Engineer Location: Framingham, MA About the Job: As a Senior Automation Engineer within our Engineering, Automation, and Technology Support team, you’ll enhance the operations of the R D sites located in Massachusetts by creating the data architectures of the future and developing the tools that enable the scientists to focus on drug development and the science. Reporting to the Automation Associate Director, this position is responsible for providing day to day and project-based automation support for both cGMP and non-GMP groups within the R D organization located in Massachusetts. Project work includes continuous improvement, retrofit, and capital investments to develop new technologies and optimize development and clinical manufacturing operations. The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for using expertise to design innovative solutions. These solutions span the areas of automation systems, data historians, IoT devices, and AI with a key focus on pushing new boundaries of Digital 4.0. The role will be responsible for maintaining and providing technical support, ensuring availability of the automation systems for multiple R D facilities, across several drug modalities. Main Responsibilities: Lead project work that includes continuous improvement, retrofit, and capital investments to develop new technologies and optimize development and clinical manufacturing operations Design, architect, troubleshoot, and deliver future enhancements for automation related systems. Provide technical support and maintenance of the automation systems for multiple R D facilities within the Framingham campus and Waltham locations. Provide oversight to contractors for staff augmentation and/or project roles as needed. Provide technical solutions to a wide range of process automation related design challenges. Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to create robust infrastructures that provide the cutting-edge tools to enable more experimentation and discovery Create data architectures to capture time-series data and create dashboards for easy data analysis, visualization, and remote operation About You: Required Qualifications: Bachelor s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline 8 years of automation experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment Experience with multiple controls systems (Rockwell, DeltaV, Ignition, etc) and data historians (Aveva PI) Demonstrated knowledge of bus technologies and Instrumentation Experience with virtual infrastructures and management of IT/OT networks Excellent communication and organizational skills Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and be accountable Proven technical and analytical skills to quickly resolve automation system issues. Thorough understanding of data integrity principles, including 21 CFR Part 11 Experience with IoT solutions and edge devices Preferred Qualifications: Master’s or MBA Experience with UNS, including MQTT Experience with PAT for process optimization, including synTQ Special Working Conditions: 24/7 on-call support for emergencies as needed Requires working in an industrial manufacturing environment including gowning Why choose us?
