ABOUT THE ROLE
An established and growing food manufacturing company is seeking an experienced PLC Controls Technician to support highly automated manufacturing and packaging operations at a modern production facility. This individual will serve as the site's technical expert for industrial automation, controls, instrumentation, and electrical systems while partnering closely with Operations and Maintenance to maximize equipment reliability, production uptime, and continuous improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex automation challenges while helping support a rapidly growing manufacturing operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Automation & Controls • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment • Diagnose HMI, SCADA, and industrial communication systems • Monitor PLC logic and perform approved program modifications • Support servo motors, VFDs, robotics, and vision systems • Troubleshoot industrial communication networks and machine interfaces • Maintain machine safety systems including safety PLCs and relays Electrical & Instrumentation • Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial instrumentation • Troubleshoot industrial electrical systems up to 480V • Support MCCs, electrical panels, sensors, and field devices • Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and one-line drawings • Utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes, infrared cameras, and other diagnostic equipment • Maintain accurate electrical documentation Reliability & Continuous Improvement • Analyze alarms, faults, and downtime trends • Lead and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) • Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) • Utilize CMMS software to support preventive and predictive maintenance • Assist with equipment upgrades and automation improvements • Participate in commissioning and startup of new equipment • Develop and improve preventive maintenance procedures and troubleshooting documentation Leadership & Collaboration • Serve as the controls and automation subject matter expert • Mentor maintenance technicians on electrical troubleshooting • Partner with Operations to improve equipment performance • Support cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives Safety & Compliance • Follow all electrical safety standards and Lockout/Tagout procedures • Maintain compliance with GMP and food safety requirements • Promote a safe work environment • Participate in planned shutdowns and major maintenance activities
