Job Description Summary The Farm Field Mechanic plays a crucial role in repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining farm equipment with a high level of autonomy. They collaborate with equipment operators to address malfunctions and take ownership of the repair process in the field. This position demands a high level of expertise in diagnosing and repairing tractors and heavy machinery. Job Description Troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds farm equipment and other equipment used in field operations. Effectively handles multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizes tasks. Communicates with field supervisor and maintenance shop regarding downtime and parts needed. Steps in to provide direction when field supervisor is unavailable. Reports any unsafe behavior or injuries to supervisor in a timely manner. Be prepared to respond to equipment breakdowns and malfunctions promptly. Work with a GPS system to make necessary adjustments and ensure precise navigation and operation of farm equipment. Maintains accurate equipment records. Collaborate with the team and lead by example, sharing knowledge and skills to promote a positive working environment. Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Actively participate and comply with Company safety policies, practices, and procedures. Basic Preferred Qualifications Education/ Certifications: (Required Preferred) Valid Driver’s License and driving record that meets Lamb Weston Driving Standards required (must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Requirement, MVR, check) Skills and Experience: 2 years of maintenance experience on farm equipment required, 3 years preferred. Welding and fabrication skills that include experience doing field repairs. Hands on experience with repairing electrical and hydraulic systems. Strong verbal and communication skills needed. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Physical Environment/Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently. Exposed to an outdoor environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature, in all-weather conditions. Exposure to outdoor farming environments for up to 14 hours per work day to include: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergies Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements as well as other maneuvers required for job actions and procedures. Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment. Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
