[Source: Indeed] Pay & Schedule Pay: $34 / hour Job Type: Travel / Contract Facility Type: Manufacturing / Industrial Location: United States Schedule 12-hour shifts Day or night availability Overtime and weekend work as needed Job Summary As an Ammonia Refrigeration Operator 2, you're the technical lead on the floor. You'll handle advanced troubleshooting, repairs, and system modifications, support PSM and RMP compliance, and mentor the next generation of ammonia techs, all while keeping operations running safe and reliable. What You’ll Be Doing Maintain and repair boilers and auxiliary equipment (pumps, steam/water valves, air compressors, high‑pressure condensate) Monitor load demands and adjust boilers, compressors, and pumps to maintain required steam, air, and water output Monitor and adjust chemical feed systems for water treatment to ensure proper levels Manipulate valves and equipment controls to regulate steam, water, and fuel flow Inspect boiler safety devices and observe meters/gauges to ensure proper operation Report abnormal conditions or major repair needs to supervisors and assist in corrective action Perform minor repairs (meters, valves, gaskets, joints) as needed Maintain boiler room cleanliness and safety standards Assist in annual boiler inspections and preparation Demonstrate safe work practices and adherence to organizational safety programs What We’re Looking For Required: Operator 2 Ammonia Certification (minimum requirement) 5+ years of experience as a refrigeration technician/operator Valid driver’s license Proficiency in reading schematics Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ammonia refrigeration experience RETA Certification preferred Knowledge of engine & boiler systems, electricity & motor controls, pneumatics & hydraulics, mechanical systems Experience with predictive/preventive maintenance, site utilities, and system troubleshooting Skills in pipefitting, welding, machining, or metal fabrication a plus Willingness to travel 100% Benefits & Perks Pay: $31–$36/hour Per diem, housing, and travel compensation Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, company‑paid life insurance, PTO, 401(k) with match Referral program and relocation assistance Why This Role Is Different You’ll get clear direction, steady support, and work that respects your time and skill.
