Fleet Mechanic
Compensation
The Role
About the role
Complete Concrete is a concrete construction company based in West Palm Beach, Florida. We are hiring a part-time and/or full-time Fleet Mechanic to keep our trucks, equipment and machinery safe, reliable and on the job.
As our in-house mechanic, you will own maintenance and repair for the whole fleet, from pickups and dump trucks to skid steers, mixers and concrete tools. Uptime matters here: when a machine goes down, a pour can slip, so you will play a direct part in keeping crews and schedules moving.
Key responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on all company vehicles and equipment: oil and filter changes, greasing, fluid checks, belts, hoses and tire service.
- Diagnose and repair diesel and gas engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes (air and hydraulic), electrical systems and drivetrains.
- Service heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, backhoes, loaders and forklifts.
- Maintain concrete-specific equipment, including mixer drums, concrete pumps, power trowels, screeds, saws, plate compactors, generators and air compressors.
- Respond to breakdowns at job sites and make field repairs to keep pours on schedule.
- Perform welding and fabrication repairs on buckets, trailers, forms and attachments.
- Keep trucks and trailers DOT-compliant, including annual inspections, lighting and brake checks, and pre-trip inspection follow-ups.
- Maintain service records, inspection logs and a preventive maintenance schedule for every unit.
- Order parts, manage shop inventory and work with dealers and outside vendors for warranty or specialty repairs.
- Recommend repair-versus-replace decisions and help plan equipment purchases.
- Keep the shop clean, organized and safe, and follow all OSHA and environmental rules for fluids and waste.
- Train operators on proper daily checks and equipment care.
Required qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a diesel, fleet or heavy equipment mechanic.
- Strong diagnostic skills on diesel engines, hydraulics, air brakes and 12/24V electrical systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic software and scan tools for trucks and equipment.
- Own basic hand tools (company provides specialty and shop tools).
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Able to work independently, prioritize repairs and communicate clearly with crews and management.
- Willingness to respond to occasional after-hours or weekend breakdowns.
Preferred qualifications
- Class A or B CDL (or willingness to obtain one).
- ASE certifications (Medium/Heavy Truck series) or a diesel technology diploma.
- DOT annual inspection qualification.
- Experience with concrete mixers, pumps or other concrete equipment.
- Welding and fabrication skills (MIG/stick).
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
Physical requirements and work environment
- Regularly lift up to 50 lbs; bend, kneel, climb and work under equipment.
- Work outdoors in heat, rain and dust at job sites, as well as in the shop.
