Reist Popcorn Company is a family-owned fourth-generation company celebrating over 100 years in business. Located in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, Reist Popcorn Company processes and ships popcorn to domestic and international snack food manufacturers and concessionaires.

**Role Description**

This is a full-time, on-site position for Automation & Controls Engineer. This position oversees IT infrastructure, PLC programming, automation system design, and equipment troubleshooting.

This is achieved by managing the key functions below, but not limited to:

· Design, program, and maintain PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems.

· Create and maintain control schematics, writing diagrams, I/O lists, and documentation.

· Lead automation upgrades, continuous improvement, and system optimization initiatives.

· Conduct system testing, validation, and commissioning for new equipment.

· Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve equipment, software, and control-system issues to minimize downtime.

· Manage facility IT systems, including networks, servers, user accounts, and cybersecurity.

· Collaborate with production, maintenance, and QA teams to improve system reliability and efficiency.

· Develop documentation for system architecture, PLC logic, and IT procedures.

· Lead technology upgrades, integrations, and continuous improvement projects.

· Ensure compliance with food-manufacturing safety and quality standards.

· Provide training to operators and maintenance staff on new systems.

**Required Skills & Qualifications**

· Experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).

· Strong knowledge of industrial automation, sensors, HMIs, and control networks.

· IT administration experience (Windows systems, networking, backups, cybersecurity).

· Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues under pressure.

· Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, or food-manufacturing environments.

· Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

**Preferred Qualifications**

· Experience in food processing or packaging automation.

· OSHA safety training or relevant food-industry certifications.

**Job Type:** Full-time

**Schedule**

· Monday to Friday 7 am – 5 pm

· On-site position mainly in Mount Joy facility, potential for up to 30% travel to out-of-state facility at various times each year.
