Job Description Summary As Boiler Refrigeration Technician I, you will learn to operate, maintain and repair critical Ammonia Refrigeration, Boiler/Steam, Air and HVAC systems. You will monitor the function of boilers and support equipment, steam systems, air compressors, and refrigeration equipment to ensure proper operations. You will work with and advise production supervisors on any maintenance requirements, repairs of equipment, and/or any maintenance activities required to maximize plant production and uptime. Job Description Job Responsibilities: Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance established by the Team Leader Maintenance and the Maintenance Lead as well as emergency repairs with minimal to no supervision. Perform line checks and preventive maintenance (PM) tasks, including documentation lubrication and inspection of equipment to prevent or identify failures. Follows instructions given in work logs, work orders, and equipment manuals to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance. Complete non-routine maintenance activities as assigned by supervision. Assist in performing maintenance work, repair, and adjustments of processing equipment; change and replace belts, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors, pumps, etc., and perform building repairs. Learn and perform operation functions for refrigeration systems and freeze tunnels. Follows instructions given in work logs, work orders, and equipment manuals to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance. Assist supervision in the safety training of associates in the proper and safest way to check and repair equipment. Always maintains safe work practices and participates in safety programs and assures that safe work practices are followed in all work groups. Actively participate in Company Safety, Good Manufacturing Practice, and 5S Programs. All other duties as assigned. Basic Preferred Qualifications Education/ Certifications: High school diploma or GED preferred. Basic education on power systems, refrigeration systems, air systems, and basic welding preferred. Skills and Experience: Must have ability to qualify as a Boiler Refrigeration Maintenance I, capable of doing all operations, know limits of equipment and how to avoid deviations, capable of sound trouble shooting basic refrigeration, boiler, steam and air systems. Must be able to communicate, comprehend, and follow instructions in English (both written and oral). 5 years related experience in manufacturing environment preferred. Must have the ability to communicate and work with all team members in a positive manner. Have the ability to troubleshoot and repair all equipment in and outside of the plant. Must attend confined space training (attendant, entrant and rescuer), HAZCOM (Hazard Communication) training, and can be qualified in these areas. Will be a Respirator User and is responsible to meet the qualifications requirements of the Lamb Weston Respiratory Protection Program for the use of Respiratory Protection Equipment (current medical, fit testing, and training). Will be an Emergency Response Team Member (Hazardous Materials Technician) and will be responsible to meet the qualification requirements per 29 CFR 1910.120 Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (current medical and training). Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to do basic refrigeration calculations in order to trouble shoot refrigeration systems. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
