Job Details: Position Summary The Automation Technician 7 – Automation IT Systems is a senior technical role with advanced responsibility across industrial automation, control systems, and site-level information technology management . In addition to providing expert-level troubleshooting and support for automated machinery, this position serves as the primary onsite IT systems owner for the Camilla processing facility. Working closely with offsite IT and engineering support teams, this role ensures that all manufacturing, operational, and business-critical systems are maintained, secure, and operating efficiently. The position requires strong cross-functional collaboration, technical leadership, and the ability to bridge operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) environments. Key Responsibilities Automation Controls Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair, and optimization of automated machines and integrated systems. Support specification, installation, commissioning, modification, and validation of automation and control systems. Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to resolve complex system-level issues. Provide technical expertise across all phases of manufacturing operations. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, performance, and safety. Information Technology Systems Management (Primary Focus – Camilla Facility) Serve as the onsite IT systems lead for the Camilla processing facility. Partner with offsite IT support teams to maintain, monitor, and support: Network infrastructure Servers (physical and/or virtual) Manufacturing systems (MES, SCADA, HMI, data historians) Business systems supporting production and maintenance activities Coordinate troubleshooting and resolution of IT and OT system issues impacting operations. Ensure system availability, performance, data integrity, and basic cybersecurity compliance. Support user access management, system updates, backups, and hardware lifecycle coordination. Act as the local technical liaison between plant operations and centralized IT/engineering resources. Documentation Systems Support Maintain accurate documentation for: Control systems and automation assets Network layouts and system configurations Maintenance and change management activities Utilize technical documentation, schematics, manuals, and research tools effectively. Support SAP Maintenance activities and ensure accurate system usage and data quality. Minimum Qualifications Education Training beyond high school including one of the following: Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Electronics Technology, Information Technology, Automation, or a closely related technical field, or An equivalent combination of education and experience, including: Skilled trades programs Military technical training Experience 4 years of automation, industrial maintenance, and/or manufacturing systems experience. Demonstrated exposure to IT systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment is required. Required Skills Competencies Technical Skills Strong proficiency in: Electrical and electronic systems Automation and control systems Mechanical systems and manufacturing processes Working knowledge of: Industrial networks Manufacturing and plant IT systems Ability to troubleshoot across automation (OT) and IT domains. Proficiency or ability to become proficient in SAP Maintenance . Computer Systems Skills Strong computer skills with an emphasis on: System documentation and organization Technical research and root cause analysis Understanding system interdependencies Ability to work with both proprietary and standard software tools used in manufacturing environments. Communication Interpersonal Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with: Plant operators and technicians Engineers and offsite IT personnel Supervisors and management Proven ability to function effectively in a team environment while acting as a site-level technical leader. Preferred Qualifications Technical certifications in: Automation, electronics, IT systems, networking, or cybersecurity Industrial maintenance or control systems Experience supporting manufacturing execution systems (MES), SCADA, or plant networks.
