**POSITION SUMMARY**

The Test Engineer independently plans and executes product performance, durability, environmental, and validation testing for rotating equipment and related components. The primary purpose of the role is to evaluate test results, identify abnormal or unexpected behavior, investigate potential causes, reproduce failures when appropriate, and develop evidence-based technical conclusions. The engineer converts test data and investigation findings into clear reports and recommended next steps for engineering decisions.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures for product performance, durability, environmental, and validation testing.
  • Build and verify test setups, including fixtures, samples, instrumentation, sensors, controls, and data-acquisition systems.
  • Confirm test conditions, configuration, calibration status, acceptance criteria, and safety controls before execution.
  • Monitor tests, document observations, preserve traceable data, and respond appropriately to abnormal conditions.
  • Collect, clean, process, and analyze test data using Excel or approved engineering and statistical tools.
  • Compare results against specifications, requirements, baselines, prior tests, and expected engineering behavior.
  • Investigate unexpected, inconsistent, or failed test results to determine whether the cause is related to the product, test method, instrumentation, software, fixture, setup, environment, or data quality.
  • Develop investigation plans, identify competing hypotheses, collect additional evidence, and perform focused testing to confirm or eliminate potential causes.
  • Perform structured root cause analysis for test failures and support corrective-action verification through objective testing.
  • Identify trends, correlations, repeatability concerns, outliers, and potential failure modes within test data.
  • Prepare technical reports that clearly document the objective, setup, method, results, analysis, conclusions, limitations, and recommended next steps.
  • Present test and investigation findings to engineering and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Develop and improve test instructions, data templates, analysis methods, fixtures, and test scripts.
  • Maintain test equipment, fixtures, software, files, and work areas in a ready and organized condition.
  • Support new product development and sustaining engineering projects where testing or investigation analysis is required.

**MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE**

  • Reduction in warranty claims / customer complaints (RMAs, credits) from early field failures or below specified performance
  • Improved product lifetime in the field
  • Robust and repeatable new product introduction (HALT test and performance data prior to launch)
  • Data driven correlation of accelerate life testing process and field performance
