The Role
**POSITION PURPOSE**
Under the supervision of the Information Technology Manager, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains electrical equipment throughout the facility. Plans, installs and inspects wiring for field instruments, electrical apparatus and fixtures.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Deploy firmware updates, software patches, and configurations to PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, HVAC controllers, and smart process instrumentation.
- Perform system and parameter backups before any hardware or firmware alterations. Verify that all physical safety mechanisms, including interlocks and emergency shutdowns, are intact and functional prior to returning upgraded components to service.
- Check and verify the correct wiring and physical interfaces of peripheral equipment following instrumentation, drive, or facility system upgrades.
- Back up, restore, and configure variable frequency drive (VFD) parameters. Calibrate and troubleshoot digital and analog instruments to ensure accurate process tracking.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and update software/firmware on building automation systems (BAS) and programmable HVAC controllers (including dampers, actuators, and environmental sensors).
- Monitor, test, and support the integration of fire alarm control panels (FACP) with plant-wide PLC/SCADA systems. Coordinate and verify communication signals, emergency shutdowns, and automated ventilation responses (e.g., HVAC shutdown on alarm).
- Debug and troubleshoot basic ladder logic, function blocks, and network configurations (including industrial Ethernet and BACnet/Modbus protocols) to resolve device communication mismatches or automation errors.
- Maintain meticulous upgrade logs, calibration records, fire alarm interface test logs, and asset databases. Participate in QA/QC reviews of instrumentation installation and network architecture designs.
- Interpret mechanical sequences, control strategies, control drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and system layout drawings to communicate effectively with other plant personnel.
- Flow & Gas Meter Calibration: Calibrate, configure, and verify diverse flow measurement technologies, including magnetic, vortex, differential pressure, and thermal mass flow meters, to ensure accurate liquid and gas chemical dosing/tracking.
- Ultrasonic Meter Management: Perform precision alignment, signal strength diagnostics, and wet/dry calibration parameters on transit-time and Doppler ultrasonic flow meters to maintain non-invasive process accuracy.
- Gas & Safety Instrumentation: Calibrate, bump-test, and document performance data for specialized gas meters and ambient gas detection instrumentation to ensure both accurate process measurement and field personnel safety.
- Adhere to a strict confidentiality policy, sign a confidentiality agreement, and promote/implement Arbinger Principles.
- Other duties as assigned by the Information Technology Services Manager.
- Position may be subject to on-call designation.
