The Role

Maintenance Planner

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio

Work arrangement: On-site

Employment: Full-time, salaried

Salary: $78,000–$90,000 per year

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Direct reports: None

About the role

Tin Sparrow Foods is looking for a Maintenance Planner to prepare and schedule preventive, corrective, and planned maintenance work for our production and facility equipment.

You will turn maintenance requests into complete job plans with clear instructions, labor estimates, parts, tools, safety requirements, and equipment documentation. Maintenance technicians perform the physical repairs; this role makes sure they have what they need before work begins.

What you’ll do

  • Review incoming maintenance requests and confirm scope, priority, and required information.
  • Create detailed work plans for production, packaging, refrigeration, and facility equipment.
  • Estimate labor hours and identify required parts, tools, permits, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain preventive-maintenance schedules in the CMMS.
  • Build weekly maintenance schedules with production and maintenance leaders.
  • Confirm that parts and contractor support are available before scheduled work begins.
  • Maintain equipment records, manuals, drawings, bills of materials, and repair histories.
  • Review completed work orders and improve future job plans using technician feedback.
  • Track overdue preventive work, planned-work percentage, schedule completion, and equipment history.
  • Help plan major shutdown work and equipment installations.
  • Visit active work areas to understand equipment conditions and verify job scope.

What we’re looking for

  • At least 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, maintenance planning, production equipment, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and basic electrical diagrams.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance and common mechanical or electrical work.
  • Ability to estimate labor, materials, tools, and job sequence.
  • Strong documentation and prioritization skills.
  • Comfortable communicating with technicians, production employees, contractors, and suppliers.

A bachelor’s degree is not required. Experience as an industrial maintenance technician can substitute for formal education.

Helpful, but not required:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, automation, or a related field.
  • Experience with Fiix, MaintainX, Maximo, SAP PM, or a comparable CMMS.
  • Food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout and food-safety requirements.

Schedule

The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., including a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

This is primarily a first-shift position. The planner will occasionally begin earlier or remain later to review work with second-shift technicians.

Approximately four to six planned shutdowns take place each year and may require evening or weekend support. These dates are normally announced several weeks in advance, and the employee’s schedule is adjusted during the same week. Routine on-call coverage is not required.

Compensation and benefits

  • Base salary of $78,000–$90,000.
  • Annual performance bonus with a target of 8%.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Health savings account with an annual employer contribution.
  • 401(k) with a 5% company match.
  • 15 days of paid time off.
  • 10 paid company holidays.
  • Six paid sick days.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Company-paid life and disability insurance.
  • Tuition assistance of up to $5,250 per year.
  • $1,500 annual technical-training allowance.
  • Safety footwear and required protective equipment provided.
  • Employee product allowance.
  • Climate-controlled planning office located beside the maintenance shop.

Hiring process

  • A 30-minute introductory call with the recruiter.
  • A video interview with the Maintenance Manager.
  • An on-site plant tour and work-planning discussion with maintenance and production employees.
  • References and final decision.
