EstimatedThe Role
Technique is looking for a Quality Manager to join our team at our Concord, North Carolina facility, home to Technique’s NASCAR operations. This customer-facing leadership role owns the quality of the chassis, welded tubular structures, and race-ready assemblies we build for NASCAR and its race teams. The Quality Manager leads the Quality department, supports day-to-day execution of the established QMS, and makes sure every part we ship meets NASCAR specifications on time for race season. They also drive continuous improvement and own quality performance metrics such as first-pass yield, scrap rate, COPQ, and on-time delivery of conforming product.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of production manufacturing quality experience, ideally in motorsports, aerospace, or another high-precision, low-volume environment, along with a B.S. in Engineering or a related field. Strong welding and fabrication quality experience is essential, especially on tubular steel structures, as is hands-on skill with dimensional verification using laser scanning, laser trackers, and Polyworks. ASQ credentials (CMQ/OE, CQE, CQA) and working knowledge of ISO 9001 are required, and CWI certification or experience in the racing industry is a strong plus. The right person can stay calm and decisive under the tight turnarounds and fixed deadlines of a race schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Customer Quality Leadership – Serve as the lead quality contact for NASCAR and race team customers; investigate concerns and lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) using 8D, 5 Why, and CI methodologies.
- Specification & Rules Compliance – Make sure all chassis and components conform to NASCAR drawings, specifications, and technical bulletins; manage changes as specifications are revised throughout the season.
- Customer Inspections & Certification – Coordinate customer source inspections and part certification activities, and drive corrective actions to eliminate root causes of nonconformance.
- Complaint Response Management – Manage customer issue response timelines with the urgency the race schedule demands, and ensure corrective actions close on time.
- Customer Representation – Professionally represent Technique with NASCAR officials, race team personnel, and customer auditors.
- Quality KPI Ownership – Own and report quality KPIs including first-pass yield, scrap rate, COPQ, customer returns, and on-time delivery of conforming product.
- QMS Support & Continuous Improvement – Support the established QMS and drive continuous improvement of quality processes in alignment with ISO 9001.
- Internal Audit Program – Support the internal audit program: conduct audits, train auditors, and drive follow-up on corrective actions.

- Document Control – Manage controlled quality documents and certification records according to established document control procedures.
- Calibration Program – Manage the calibration program, including gage control, recall, and qualification of measurement equipment.
- Nonconforming Material Control – Oversee nonconforming material control and MRB disposition decisions.
- Serialization & Traceability – Maintain full serialized traceability of chassis, sub-assemblies, and critical components, including material certs, heat lots, weld records, and inspection data.
- Launch Readiness & PFMEA – Lead quality planning for new and revised components ahead of season deadlines; develop and maintain PFMEAs (severity, occurrence, detection, AP).
- Control Plans – Own Control Plans linked to PFMEA outputs, and drive floor-level inspection and process monitoring.
- First Article Inspection – Oversee first article inspections and dimensional reports for new and revised parts and assemblies.
- MSA & SPC – Apply MSA (Gage R&R, bias, linearity, stability) and SPC (Cpk/Ppk) to drive process control.
- Welding & Fabrication Quality – Ensure weld quality on tubular chassis structures and fabricated components through AWS compliance; WPS/PQR/WPQ documentation; visual, dye penetrant, and magnetic particle inspection; and CWI coordination.
- Assembly Quality – Oversee torque verification and tool calibration, error-proofing (poka-yoke), sub-assembly traceability, and functional checks of race-ready assemblies.
- Special Process Audits – Conduct special process audits on welding, coating, and other special processes in accordance with applicable CQI standards.
