Overview The Senior Robotics Controls Engineer will join our Robotics Controls team. We are a group of highly motivated roboticists working on the algorithms that lie at the heart of the system. We are responsible for classic areas of robotics such as the kinematic workspace analysis, arm motion generation, admittance algorithms, dynamic response, etc. We are also developing how the robot platform interacts with the medical instruments, collaborating closely with the mechanical development of the flexible and rigid medical instruments. Furthermore, we work on the physician / robot interaction schemes and drive modes, helping make the system easy to drive all while optimizing performance. We are seeking an individual that is at ease with taking on both software and hardware tasks. The individual should be able to quickly develop a systems level understanding that guides decisions moving forward. You should have hands-on experimental skills alongside an insatiable curiosity for understanding the inner workings of the entire system. Key Responsibilities : As an integral part of the team, you will: Develop, implement and test robotic algorithms (kinematics, dynamics, controls, etc.) Collaborate inter-disciplinarily with Mechanical Engineering, Instruments Accessories, Clinical Engineering and Software Engineering teams to drive the clinical performance of the robot Conduct in-depth design reviews, presenting your results with outstanding interpersonal skills Guide junior robotic engineers on the team Qualifications: One of the following combinations of years of experience and education are required: A.) a B.S. degree in a technical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, EE, ME, or equivalent) combined with 6 years of relevant post-academic experience OR B.) a M.S. degree in a technical discipline combined with 4 years of relevant post-academic experience OR C.)a PhD in a technical discipline combined with 0-2 years of relevant post-academic experience Qualifications continued: A PhD in Robotics is highly desired. Proven experience working on robotics or other complex electromechanical systems is required. Experience on safety critical electromechanical devices is preferred Regulated industry experience (medical, aerospace, automotive) is preferable. Strong programming skills in Matlab and/or Python and/or C is required. Demonstrable experience applying a data driven and scientific approach to R D engineering is required. Knowledge in soft robotics / tendon driven device is preferred. Previous experience developing and testing robotic and learning algorithms (kinematics, dynamics, controls, etc.) is preferred Experience with multi-arm redundant kinematic chain workspace analysis is preferred Experience
