PLC Controls and Electromechanical Maintenance Technician
Compensation
The Role
Your day at a glance
------------------------
It’s shift change on a high-volume manufacturing line. A sensor fault triggers a stop. You trace the issue from an HMI alarm through ladder logic on an Allen‑Bradley PLC, validate a 24V control loop with your meter, verify a 480V three‑phase feed, swap a component, and bring production back online—safely and fast. That’s the kind of impact you’ll make in this role.
About Westlake Pipe & Fittings
----------------------------------
Westlake Pipe & Fittings (NYSE: WLK) is among North America’s largest PVC pipe and fittings manufacturers, serving municipal water and sewer, plumbing, water well, pool and spa, and agricultural/turf irrigation markets from 23 plants and distribution sites. We’re known for product innovation—including Certa‑Lok® spline‑lock technology—and our commitment to building A Better Foundation.
What you’ll tackle
----------------------
- Own electrical diagnostics and repair during your shift in a fast-paced plant environment.
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs—Allen Bradley, Modicon, and Square D—using ladder logic.
- Isolate faults down to the component level on electrical/electronic systems, from low-voltage controls up to 480V.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and sketches to execute accurate repairs.
- Use test instruments confidently; work safely around 3‑phase 480 VAC power.
- Support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial machinery; exposure to robotics, plumbing, and facility systems is a plus.
- Model safety—LOTO, PPE, and housekeeping—while maintaining 5S standards.
- Communicate equipment status, root cause, and repair ETAs clearly to teammates and leaders.
- Pitch in with overtime when needed; participate in an on‑call rotation up to six weeks per year.
What you bring
------------------
- Formal electronics training and 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial electrical work.
- Robotics exposure preferred; an associate degree in electronics or a journeyman card is a plus.
- Kansas Class C driver’s license (required).
- A self-directed work style with strong prioritization and clear communication.
Physical demands
--------------------
Expect frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, reaching, handling, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and communication. Occasional sitting. Regularly lift/move 40–50 lbs. Vision needs include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work environment
--------------------
Regular exposure to moving machinery, wet/humid conditions, fumes/airborne particles, extreme heat, vibration, and electrical risk; occasional work at heights. Noise levels are typically loud. PPE required: safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear, and task-specific gear.
