About the role
The Industrial Maintenance Technician keeps beverage-production and packaging equipment operating safely and reliably. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns, replace failed components, and help correct recurring equipment problems.
The position supports conveyors, fillers, can seamers, labelers, case packers, pumps, motors, compressors, and related electrical and mechanical systems. Product-specific training is provided.
What you’ll do
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and document the condition of equipment and components.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment problems.
- Repair or replace motors, bearings, belts, chains, sensors, switches, valves, pumps, and other production components.
- Use electrical meters, mechanical measuring tools, manuals, diagrams, and equipment history to identify faults.
- Support production employees during equipment stoppages and provide realistic repair-time updates.
- Perform equipment changeovers, adjustments, lubrication, alignment, and calibration.
- Assist with basic PLC and variable-frequency-drive diagnostics without making unauthorized program changes.
- Record completed work, parts used, downtime, and follow-up recommendations in the maintenance system.
- Identify recurring failures and participate in root-cause reviews with production and engineering.
- Follow lockout/tagout, machine-guarding, electrical-safety, food-safety, and chemical-handling procedures.
- Maintain tools, spare parts, repair areas, and technical documentation.
What we’re looking for
Candidates should meet one of the following experience combinations:
- At least two years of industrial maintenance, production-equipment repair, electromechanical maintenance, or a comparable technical role.
- A relevant technical certificate or associate degree plus at least one year of hands-on maintenance experience.
- Completion of a recognized industrial-maintenance or millwright apprenticeship.
You will also need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Practical understanding of mechanical power transmission, motors, sensors, pneumatics, and basic industrial electricity.
- The ability to read equipment manuals, basic electrical diagrams, and preventive-maintenance instructions.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, electrical meters, and mechanical measuring equipment.
- Clear communication during equipment failures and shift handoffs.
- The ability to distinguish a safe temporary correction from a repair that requires additional shutdown time.
Experience with beverage, food, packaging, pharmaceutical, or other automated production equipment is helpful but not required. PLC programming experience is not required for this position.
Work environment and physical requirements
The production facility includes moving equipment, wet-process areas, elevated noise, temperature variation, and cleaning chemicals. Required protective equipment is provided by the company.
Technicians must be able to:
- Lift and carry tools or components weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Climb fixed stairs and approved ladders.
- Bend, kneel, stand, and work in restricted equipment areas.
- Use required hearing, eye, hand, and foot protection.
- Work safely around operating machinery after completing company training.
Employees are not expected to enter confined spaces, perform energized electrical work, or operate lifting equipment without the required training and authorization.
