The Role

About Voltava:

At Voltava, people power everything we do. We are a premier global manufacturing and assembly partner formed through the combination of Detroit Manufacturing Systems, Android Industries, and Avancez with approximately 5,400 Team Members across 21 facilities worldwide. Our vibrant, collaborative, and people-focused culture is the foundation for everything we deliver, from complex module assembly and sequencing to contract manufacturing, supply chain, automation, and tooling and equipment design for OEM customers across the automotive, industrial, e-mobility, heavy truck, defense, and technology sectors. Kinetyc, our scalable contract manufacturing arm based in Wixom, Michigan, expands our capabilities and capacity to support customers across a range of industries. Together, we are Building A Better Everything.

About the Role:

Join our engineering team as an Electrical Engineer and help turn innovative ideas into reliable, production-ready products. In this hands-on role, you’ll design, integrate, test, and continuously improve electrical systems while partnering closely with mechanical, manufacturing, controls, and cross-functional teams.

You’ll have the opportunity to work from concept and prototype through production, solving real-world engineering challenges along the way. From designing electrical systems and building prototypes to troubleshooting issues on the production floor, your work will directly impact product performance, quality, reliability, and manufacturability.

If you’re a curious, hands-on problem solver who enjoys taking on complex challenges, working with emerging technology, and seeing your designs come to life, this is an opportunity to make a tangible impact.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, develop, and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable assemblies, and system interfaces.
  • Select electrical components based on performance, availability, reliability, and cost.
  • Develop and maintain electrical Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
  • Build, test, and troubleshoot prototypes, assemblies, and production equipment.
  • Develop electrical test procedures, acceptance criteria, and production test equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support manufacturing teams with technical guidance, troubleshooting, and clear work instructions.
  • Identify and implement design improvements that enhance reliability, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, controls, and other engineering teams to integrate power, controls, sensors, communications, and embedded systems.
  • Participate in design reviews, product revisions, and engineering change activities.
  • Support the transition of designs from development into repeatable, production-ready processes.

What You Need To Be Successful:

  • Experience designing, integrating, testing, or troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Ability to read, create, and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience selecting electrical components and documenting engineering designs.
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and collaborate effectively across engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in both engineering and manufacturing environments.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience designing or integrating electrical systems for drones, robotics, automated equipment, or other electromechanical products.
  • Experience with PCB design, embedded systems, battery systems, motors, or motor controllers.
  • Experience developing manufacturing tests, production test equipment, or automated testing systems.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and transitioning products from development into production.
  • Experience with electrical CAD tools and engineering documentation systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems in a production or high-volume manufacturing environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Travel:

  • None
