Department: Engineering

About the Role

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join an established production facility in Comer, Georgia. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys tackling complex production hurdles, and is passionate about creating practical solutions that enhance quality, efficiency, and overall output.

You will manage a diverse range of tasks including mechanical engineering, process development, tooling design, production support, and continuous improvement. You will have the autonomy to guide engineering projects from the initial design phase through to final implementation, collaborating closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to advance our composite manufacturing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and refine production methods for composite assemblies and goods.
  • Design and adapt production fixtures, jigs, inspection gauges, and tooling to help improve overall assembly accuracy.
  • Utilize CAD software to engineer technical solutions and support ongoing manufacturing enhancements.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to ensure components are manufactured with high efficiency and precision.
  • Facilitate new product launches, engineering modifications, manufacturing trials, and process validations.
  • Investigate production challenges related to equipment performance, dimensional variation, product defects, and assembly workflows to help maintain consistent quality.
  • Identify specific opportunities to decrease scrap, rework, cycle times, and overall production costs.
  • Apply structured problem-solving and root cause analysis to resolve recurring production issues and improve team reliability.
  • Collaborate directly with production technicians and operators to successfully implement process improvements.
  • Support measurement system evaluations, process capability studies, and manufacturing quality improvements to ensure high standards.
  • Assess new equipment, materials, manufacturing techniques, and tooling options.
  • Develop and maintain essential engineering documentation, including process specifications, manufacturing instructions, and inspection requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to help foster a safer, higher-quality, and more productive work environment.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to production staff when new equipment or processes are introduced.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Ideally 2–5 years of experience in a technical role, such as Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong grasp of mechanical engineering principles and practical experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Background working within fabrication, machining, assembly, or production environments.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical specifications, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with CAD software, preferably Siemens NX, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex problems.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement and manufacturing process development.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies like 5 Why, 8D, Fishbone, DOE, and FMEA.
  • Knowledge of quality systems such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
  • Experience utilizing inspection tools like CMMs, height gauges, micrometers, or calipers.
  • Understanding of measurement system analysis, process capability, and SPC.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with production and engineering teams.

We also encourage applications from individuals with solid mechanical engineering foundations and relevant hands-on project experience.

Additional Skills

Experience in the following areas would be highly advantageous:

  • Composite manufacturing processes and materials
  • Aerospace or automotive manufacturing
  • Design of gauges, fixtures, jigs, or tooling
  • Additive manufacturing and 3D printing
  • Continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing
  • PPAP, APQP, MSA, and Control Plans
  • Production launches and process validation
  • Statistical process control and Gauge R&R
  • Process monitoring, transducers, thermocouples, and sensors
  • Highly engineered or low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a practical engineer who wants to see their work come to life on the production floor. You should be comfortable transitioning between process improvement, engineering design, and production troubleshooting while working alongside technicians to execute solutions. This role requires an active presence on the floor rather than a desk-bound position. The successful candidate will identify manufacturing issues, apply engineering principles to develop practical solutions, and work with the team to implement them. We are particularly interested in engineers wh
