About the role
Nightjar Bakery is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Technician to keep our baking, cooling, slicing, and packaging equipment operating safely and reliably.
You’ll complete preventive maintenance, respond to equipment failures, and work with production employees to identify recurring problems. The role covers production machinery rather than routine building cleaning or general janitorial work.
This is a hands-on technical position with no direct reports.

- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance on mixers, ovens, conveyors, slicers, and packaging equipment.
- Respond to production breakdowns and restore equipment safely.
- Replace motors, bearings, belts, sensors, switches, and other equipment components.
- Record repairs, inspections, parts used, and follow-up work in the maintenance system.
- Identify repeated failures and recommend practical corrective actions.
- Follow lockout/tagout, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
What we’re looking for
- At least three years of industrial maintenance, manufacturing equipment, military technical, or related mechanical experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment using diagrams, manuals, and basic test instruments.
- Experience with motors, conveyors, pneumatics, sensors, and preventive maintenance.
- Safe working knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to communicate clearly with production employees during equipment problems.
- Availability for the stated evening schedule.
A college degree isn’t required. Technical school, apprenticeship, or military maintenance training is welcome.
Experience with food production equipment, programmable logic controllers, or computerized maintenance systems is helpful but not required.
Schedule and working conditions
This position works a consistent second-shift schedule, with Sunday and Monday as regular days off. The shift includes a 30-minute unpaid meal break.
Occasional overtime may be offered during major repairs or equipment installation. Hours worked above 40 in a workweek are paid at 1.5 times the regular rate, including the applicable shift differential.
The position involves standing, bending, working around moving equipment, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds. Required tools and protective equipment are provided.
