Industrial Maintenance Millwright
Compensation
The Role
Build reliability into heavy industry at our Keokuk, IA foundry
-------------------------------------------------------------------
At Amsted Rail – Griffin Wheel, the leading manufacturer of railroad wheels in North America, your day begins with a walk across a state-of-the-art foundry floor. As our Industrial Maintenance Millwright, you install, align, troubleshoot, and rebuild the mechanical systems that keep production moving safely and precisely.
A day in the life
You might start by dismantling a gearbox, inspecting bearings and gears, and refitting shafts and couplings to exacting tolerances so no unwanted strain is introduced into the system. By mid-shift, you could be aligning a motor on a bulk conveyor, welding a bracket, or performing a rigging lift to replace a section of monorail — sometimes from a JLG or scissor lift. Before the day ends, you log preventive maintenance data with care and verify that every repair meets blueprint specifications.
What you will work on
- Install, maintain, repair, dismantle, and reassemble machinery across industrial and construction settings
- Precision fitting and alignment: bearings, gears, shafts, motors, and couplings
- Welding and fabrication for mechanical repairs
- Rigging and lifts; operate scaffolding, JLGs, and scissor lifts to complete work at height
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and mechanical system issues
- Work on conveyors, carousels, ASRS systems, monorails, and bulk conveyors
- Read blueprints and apply mechanical design fundamentals
- Apply safe material handling practices, use SDS, and follow all safety procedures
What you bring
- Self-directed work style; able to perform effectively without direct supervision
- Strong attention to detail, including accurate data collection/entry and tracking of preventive maintenance
- Lift truck/forklift certification
- Advanced schooling and/or 5 years of verifiable industrial maintenance experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to successfully complete screening and skills tests
Schedule and pay considerations
- Off-shift role
- Daily and weekend overtime as required
