[Source: ZipRecruiter] Refrigeration Director Denver, CO A growing food manufacturing organization is seeking a Refrigeration Director to lead and oversee ammonia refrigeration systems and compliance programs across multiple Colorado facilities. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of industrial refrigeration systems, while supporting plant operations and facility performance. This role reports directly to the VP of Operations and is based in Denver, CO, with oversight of additional regional facilities. Position Overview This position is centered around ammonia refrigeration leadership, including ownership of PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Program) compliance, system reliability, and capital improvements. While this role also oversees facility maintenance and utilities, the primary focus is on refrigeration systems, safety, and operational continuity. Key Responsibilities Lead all aspects of ammonia refrigeration systems across multiple sites, ensuring safe and efficient operationOwn and manage PSM and RMP programs, including audits, compliance, and continuous improvement initiativesProvide technical expertise on refrigeration system design, troubleshooting, and optimizationDrive reliability of refrigeration systems, minimizing downtime and production riskOversee capital projects related to refrigeration systems, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvementsSupport plant operations by ensuring refrigeration systems meet production demands and performance standardsManage and develop refrigeration operators and maintenance teamsCollaborate with site leadership to align refrigeration strategy with operational goalsSecondary Responsibilities (Facilities & Maintenance Oversight): Oversee maintenance of plant utilities including boilers, HVAC, compressors, pumps, and water systemsSupport preventative and predictive maintenance programs across facilitiesManage maintenance budgets, contractors, and capital expendituresEnsure equipment reliability and support downtime reduction initiativesQualifications 5+ years of leadership experience specifically with ammonia refrigeration systemsStrong working knowledge of PSM, RMP, EPA, OSHA, IIAR, and NFPA regulationsProven experience managing industrial refrigeration systems in food manufacturing, cold storage, or similar environmentsHands-on technical understanding of ammonia systems, compressors, valves, and related equipmentExperience leading or supporting refrigeration-related capital projectsAbility to troubleshoot complex refrigeration system issues and drive solutionsPreferred: Ammonia Operator Certification (Level 1 & 2 – RETA, GCAP, or equivalent)Experience in multi-site operationsCompensation & Benefits Pay Range: $140,000 – $180,000 (DOE)Bonus OpportunityMedical, Dental, Vision401(k)PTOLong-term growth within a multi-site organizationLocation Denver, CO (with occasional travel to regional facilities) Why This Role?
