Industrial Refrigeration & Utilities Technician Tyrone, PA | Monday - Friday | 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Weekend availability: As needed Why Join Clemens Food Group? You won’t be focused on just one piece of equipment. Your work will span ammonia refrigeration, compressed air, steam, boilers, HVAC, chillers, pumps, blowers, water treatment, and other critical utility systems. The Impact You’ll Make Reliable utilities are essential to our operation. In this role, you’ll monitor system performance, complete scheduled equipment rounds, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot problems, and help keep critical infrastructure operating safely and effectively. You’ll also play an important role in our safety programs, including Process Safety Management procedures and Hazmat emergency response. What You’ll Do You’ll be responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of industrial utility systems. Your responsibilities will include: Operate, monitor, and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems Support compressed air, steam, and boiler systems Monitor control-system parameters and complete scheduled equipment rounds Test and adjust chemical levels for condenser water treatment and boilers Perform system startups and shutdowns using established procedures Complete routine maintenance, including filter, oil-separator, and oil changes Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform repairs Assist specialized contractors when additional support is required Maintain and support HVAC equipment, scrubbers, chillers, heaters, pumps, blowers, steam traps, and valves Participate in Process Safety Management procedures and requirements Serve as a member of the Hazmat Emergency Response Team Wear required protective equipment, including a respirator, SCBA, and/or Level A protective equipment when necessary What Makes This Role Exciting? Variety. You’ll work across multiple mechanical and utility systems rather than spending every day focused on the same equipment. Problem solving. When equipment or operating conditions aren’t right, you’ll help determine what is happening and what needs to be done. Hands-on responsibility. This role combines monitoring and system operation with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. Technical growth. You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of industrial systems while continuing to strengthen your refrigeration, mechanical, utility, and safety knowledge. Meaningful responsibility. The equipment you support is critical to safe and reliable facility operations. What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who is comfortable working around industrial equipment and following established safety procedures. Experience operating or maintaining industrial refrigeration systems is preferred, particularly ammonia refrigeration. Experience with boilers, compressed air, HVAC, or other facility utility systems is also valuable. Technical education, industrial maintenance training, or refrigeration-related certifications are preferred but are not the only indicators of capability. Just as important is your ability to troubleshoot problems, learn technical systems, communicate with teammates, and consistently follow procedures in a safety-sensitive environment.
