Job Summary:  Responsible for overseeing 2 cold storage warehouses at our largest processing facility in Akutan, AK.  You, through your team, will be loading product into containers and tracking shipping requests. Responsibilities also include operating a variety of material handling equipment for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stacking, and counting merchandise. The equipment you will utilize in these functions is forklifts, slip sheets, and strapping machines. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient use of these vehicles and order selection and checking.

Essential Functions:

  1. Unloading and loading trailers and verifying proper stacking and freight
  2. Reporting shortages, damages and misplacements to your immediate supervisor
  3. Identifying and recovering any received or shipping damage
  4. Ensuring proper stock rotation by following lot number identification
  5. Pulling and preparing product for shipment
  6. Ensuring that the exact number and type of product is located and shipped
  7. Making certain product comes from the proper locations
  8. Performing picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards
  9. Moving product from the staging or storage areas into railcars or trailers
  10. Stacking and staging product and materials
  11. Maintaining the facilities, equipment, and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion
  12. Operating all equipment in a safe and efficient manner 
  13. Capable of operating forklifts and their attachments
  14. Good arithmetic and reading skills
  15. Capable of following verbal and written instructions
  16. Availability to work various shifts
  17. Capable of standing and walking extended periods of time
  18. Must pass written and driving forklift exam
  19. Able to perform and have crew perform daily forklift inspections
  20. Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of Windows, Word and Excel
  21. Able to learn and understand inventory programs. (Innova and JDE)
  22. Able to communicate and work well with other departments managers/supervisors.
  23. Motivate, educate, and supervise assigned personnel.
  24. Ensure timely shipment of correct quantities while adhering to specific operational procedures.
  25. Effectively communicate daily details of the operation with all subordinates, peers, and upper management.
  26. Make certain safety and general housekeeping rules are maintained at all times.
  27. Constantly seeks ways to improve quality & cost control where applicable
  28. Supervise freezer team, ensuring safe and effective use of equipment and facilities
  29. Create staffing schedules for freezer operations team

Minimum Qualifications:


One to two years’ experience working with wastewater controls, BDU’s, storm drain maintenance and wastewater recycling.  Must have proven record in chemical compliance with regards to wastewater.



High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must have knowledge of forklift operations with certification.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Mental Activities:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, speak, write, and understand English; and to use customer service skills. The employee is frequently required to use interpersonal and teamwork skills. The employee is occasionally required to use independent judgment, discretion, problem analysis, and decision making skills.
